Summer 2026 will be remembered across the UK for its extreme heat and exceptionally dry conditions. Cornwall felt the impact more than most, with long stretches of hot weather, minimal rainfall, and soil that baked hard for weeks at a time. Many homeowners are now seeing the after‑effects in their gardens and outdoor spaces. If your lawn has turned yellow, your borders have cracked, or your patio has shifted slightly, you are certainly not alone. Cornwall’s record‑dry summer has left gardens and ground conditions under real strain.
For anyone seeking reliable groundworks services in Truro and the surrounding areas, our team at J Keane Plant Hire is here to help. We provide professional, efficient and fully certified support for both domestic and commercial clients, ensuring every project is completed safely, on schedule and within budget.
How Dry Summers Affect Your Garden
Months of intense sunshine and limited rainfall can cause a range of issues beneath the surface. Soil becomes compacted, lawns lose moisture, and hardstanding areas begin to shift as the ground moves. Many gardens across Cornwall are showing signs of stress, including cracked borders, sinking paving slabs and weakened foundations around outdoor structures.
These issues often continue into autumn if not addressed promptly. That is why many homeowners are now turning to professional landscaping solutions to restore stability and prepare their gardens for the wetter months ahead.
