Privacy & Cookie Policy

How J Keane Plant Hire Ltd collects, uses and protects your personal data, and how this website uses cookies.

J Keane Plant Hire Ltd respects your privacy. This page explains what personal data we collect when you use this website or deal with us, how we use it, and the choices you have. Last updated October 2026.

Who we are

This website is operated by J Keane Plant Hire Ltd, Farm Building, Pencoose Farm, Kenwyn, Truro, Cornwall TR4 9BY. We also operate a depot at Pennygillam Industrial Estate, Launceston PL15 7ED. For anything relating to your personal data, contact us on 01872 274070 or email info@jkeaneplanthire.co.uk.

What we collect and why

This website does not have user accounts, comments or file uploads. We only collect personal data that you choose to give us:

  • Enquiry forms: your name, phone number, email address, and the details of your enquiry, including any site location or project information you include. We use this to respond to you and provide a quote.
  • Phone and email: when you call or email us we keep a record of the conversation where needed to arrange a hire, delivery or site visit.
  • Hire accounts: when you open an account or hire from us we collect contact and billing details, delivery addresses and, where required, identification documents, as set out in our Terms and Conditions. We use this to perform the hire contract, deliver and collect plant, and invoice you.
  • Finance enquiries: if you ask about finance through our partner Ideal4Finance, we pass on only the details needed to start your application, with your agreement.

We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR: performance of a contract (hires and quotes), our legitimate interests in running the business and responding to enquiries, compliance with legal obligations such as tax and health and safety records, and your consent where we ask for it.

Cookies

This website is a simple information site and does not set advertising or analytics cookies. We do not use tracking cookies to follow you across other websites.

Some pages include content from other services, such as an embedded map and a short video. When those load, the third party providing them may set their own cookies or collect usage data under their own privacy policies. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; the website will still work without them.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content such as maps, videos or social media links. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited that website directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with that content, including if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, such as our email and website hosting, accounting software and, where you request it, our finance partner. These providers act on our instructions and are required to keep your data secure. We may also share data where the law requires it, for example with HMRC, insurers or in connection with a legal claim.

How long we keep your data

  • Website and email enquiries that do not lead to a hire: up to 12 months, so we can follow up and refer back to your request.
  • Hire, account and invoicing records: 6 years after the end of the hire, to meet tax and legal record-keeping requirements.
  • Accident, damage or insurance records: as long as required by law or by our insurers.

What rights you have over your data

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to delete data we no longer need, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. We will respond within one month. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Where we send your data

Your data is stored on secure, password-protected systems in the UK. Where a service provider processes data outside the UK, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your data, including password-protected systems, limited staff access and secure disposal of records when they are no longer needed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with a new “last updated” date.
